Sweetwaters game reserve

Sweetwaters. I must admit that I greatly admire the amount of efforts put to conserve wildlife in this Sweetwaters game reserve in Ol Pejeta. One of such is the Chimps families saved from the hands of poachers from our neighboring countries.  A few hours drive from Nairobi, it is one of those lovely places for quiet weekend out, an escape from the bustles of the city. But mostly used by Kenya tour operators for breaking long distances. Whichever...It is money well spent.
mmmmh, take time to just relax and be lazy in the shade.

What day...what next??

Just let me enjoy my Kenya holiday safari

The wild dogs, The hunting dogs...

I met these guys on my way back to the campsite for lunch. I had them all for myself as everybody else rushed back to their lodges (that's why I love camping, am not limited or tied to a time schedule)..:-) The hunting pack as usual is always on the move, but they gave a very good show just next to my car.

Safari in Samburu-filling the gap

Samburu National reserve comes very high in Kenya safari parks list. It is a  home to some great wildlife species, not seen in any other parts usually visited. One of such species is the Gerenuk, the long-necked antelope that actually fills the gap in this reserve. The Giraffe feed from the highest levels, and the Gerenuku feeds from the mid level. These two would then be feeding from the same bushes, different levels and little if any competition.

Long neck and standing on its two helps this gerenuk fill the gap between high and low browsers

Batchelor Impala fight

Bachelor males testing strength to determine who is the dominant one.
Impalas live in organized settings, whereby males go separate in a Bachelor's group, while females and young ones live in the Harlem group under one male. In the batchelor's group is constant testing of strength/fights, to to determine who is stronger and as such dominate the group. That particular winner will be the one to go and challenge the dominant male who holds the Harlem.

The Flamingos

After driving around the lake, we wanted to stretch a bit by the lake. Sitting by the lake side the flamingos felt we were not a threat and they could pass by near us.
And so with some patience, you could 'click..click'  them.

Kenya safari: Lake Bogoria photos

My day has been a relaxed one today, driving around the lake. Had a picnic lunch just near the geysers point.
